Nero d'Avola, Villa Tonino
This wine is a blend of fruit sourced from two different vineyards, one near Marsala and the other in central Sicily. The grapes from the former region, normally an area regarded as being too cool for Nero d'Avola, have given vibrancy and an aromatic dimension to the wine, while the latter, a hotter, drier zone, provides the colour, weight and structure. The blend makes for a startlingly good wine: deep coloured, ripe and peppery on the nose and full and fleshy on the palate
